The Place To Start
Dear Friend,
You may wonder where to start if you have been abused spiritually. A good place to start is to know that God loves you unconditionally more than any parent can love a child. He views you as pure, clean and sinless through the marvelous vicarious sacrifice of all sacrifices, the major event of all history -- Jesus' death on Calvary's Cross. You are just through Him!
Now you and I are being sanctified and that process takes time, patience and constructive suffering. You have fallen off or slid off the treadmill of performance and are in the process of learning what makes Jesus so far above all religious systems that there is no comparison. What an exciting journey He has called us to and He allowed all the "mess" along the way. So, hang on and watch Him make a Mission out of your Mess.
Why not read I John? You'll learn many relevant things. He has given us eternal life through Jesus (5:11). He is love (4:8) and He loves us and we will pass it on because He is in us. If you are just learning about grace for the first time you might be spared some misery as human nature likes to go from ditch to ditch. You'll see that antinomianism (lawlessness) is a heresy to the extreme of legalism (law keeping earning salvation). The perfect balance is oneness with Jesus (Colossians 1:27, Galatians 2:20).
He'll guide you into all Truth. That a promise (John 16:13)!
In Christian Love,
Ron
